The 460-acre
Kitsap Rhododendron Preserve, owned and managed by the Mountaineers Foundation,
holds unique stands of Puget Lowland forest, thriving salmon streams, and
historical buildings. We invite neighbors,
educators, and salmon enthusiasts young and old to tour the property. We will walk to the salmon streams, view the
historical buildings of Hidden Valley, and amble to the Big Tree, an 11-foot
diameter Douglas fir tree. In 2012, we
will develop a long-term management plan for the Preserve, including Hidden
Valley, and we are interested in your ideas for how the property can be used as
an educational resource. Join us for a walk in the woods and some salmon
viewing!
